Are you about to renovate or build and the builder is telling you that you have to use his nominated trades including electrician? You are not obligated in any way to be held to ransom by your builder to use his subcontractors. It is your choice of whom you use for trades as you may have a trade that you have used and trusted for many years and would prefer to use them over a trade you have never met or used before. You can always negotiate an administration cost with the builder to supervise your nominated trade. On most occasions we find that a client’s nominated trade is normally one step ahead of the builder and most occasions the builder once he sees the performance level of your nominated trade ends up considering using them for future works.
